Warmth Recedes like the Late Night Sea

The sound of waves approaching the shore
Only to recede mere seconds later
The late night darkness leaves me blind
The moon and stars my only guide

The cool soft sand as smooth as silk
The chilling breeze slightly salty
The only warmth from the one beside
Close enough to hear her sigh

What’s the matter I gently ask
But all I get is a lonely gaze
Wave by wave, breeze by breeze
Her warmth recedes further away
